Naming your twins

It’s hard enough coming up with a name that both you and your spouse agree upon, let alone trying to come up with 2! Let me just give one recommendation for naming your twins: Rhyming names are out! It will be confusing for your children, their teachers, friends, and even you! Your twins will forever be known as “the twins,” or something along those lines of one entity. So, let them at least have their own identity. Many people are still doing names that start with the same letter (which I think is cute for boy-girl twins). But you might also consider names depending on if they are identical or fraternal: i.e. Having identical twins might make it that much more important to name them very different names. Of course, it is your choice as a parent… but it’s a choice that your children will have to live with for the rest of their lives. So choose wisely. Here are a couple pretty good websites to check out:

http://www.pregnancy-info.net/twins.html This website offers suggestions for naming twins… using anagrams (like Amy and May) or even names that mean the same thing (Eve and Zoe, both meaning “life”). While some of the names are outdated, it might give you some suggestions to build your own.

Here is a list of twins that I personally know:

    Just stumbled across your site!

Our fraternal girls are named Iliana and Lenora - both variations on Helena, meaning “Light”. We picked Iliana years ago, and just happened to like Lenora - when we found out it meant the same thing as Iliana, it stuck! We don’t know what the girls think yet - they are only 2.5 mos. old.

    Great site!
